1. Tell us a bit about yourself
Cat lady. Newcastle fan. Headphones on. Camera off.
2. What does a typical day look like for you?
No such thing as a typical day - I love that it can be nerding out with our tech teams, then a client meeting about their roadmap, or a partner call, or a supplier meeting, or a marketing review of our web strategy, or working on our B Corp plans - the only typical thing is it hopefully involves a Pot Noodle.
3. If you could swap jobs with anyone on the team for a day, who would it be?
I wouldn’t dare - they’re all way better than I would be at doing their thing. And it’s nice being the boss.
4. If your coworkers described you in one word, what would it be?
Tall?
5. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
'It’s only funny if everyone is laughing’ - my Mam
6. How would you describe the team culture in three words?
Different. Together. Better.
7. What do you find hardest about working in hospitality or tech?
Hospitality is food, service and atmosphere, nice places - all lovely things. I hate that hard work delivering great food and service in a special place is no longer enough for our customers to be commercially successful. The goalposts have moved so far, and in so many ways this decade. But I am confident the inspirational operators, their dedicated teams, and their suppliers - including tech firms like three rocks - will figure it out. We’ll rewrite the model, together, so it works again.
8. What advice would you give yourself ten years ago?
‘You’ll figure it out’. Oh, and ‘don’t eat that’.
9. What word or phrase do you overuse at work?
"We’ll figure it out." Figure it out now! Faster!
10. What’s one small change that would massively improve your working life?
Some sort of spell check technology on my typing and texts. And a really good memory. And some sort of spell check on my typing and texts.
