1. Tell us a bit about yourself

I’ve been working as a QA for nearly two years now, but before that I spent almost ten years working as a Credit Risk Analyst in the insurance industry. I’ve always had a strong interest in IT, so I started studying programming and eventually moved into QA.
I love going to concerts, although since becoming a mum I haven’t had much time to go to any. These days, I really enjoy spending time with my family and my pets.

2. What does a typical day look like for you?

Every day looks a little different, which is honestly one of the things I love about this role! It usually involves a mix of reviewing requirements, writing or running tests, logging bugs, and collaborating with the dev team. There's always something to investigate or improve!

3. What inspired you to become a tester?

I’ve always been a bit curious and love breaking things (sometimes :) ). Testing felt like the perfect way to channel that, and I really enjoy how it combines quality and problem-solving.

4. What’s one lesson from studying that has really stayed with you?

I’ve learned that attention to detail really matters. It might sound simple, but in testing, even the smallest thing you miss can have a big knock-on effect.

5. How would your team describe you in three words?

I'd hope they'd say something like curious, reliable, and thorough, but honestly, you'd have to ask them!

6. What’s the most challenging part of being a tester that people might not expect?

People assume it's just clicking around and finding bugs, but there's so much more to it. Understanding the product deeply, knowing where to look, and then clearly communicating issues in a way the whole team understands. It requires a lot more critical thinking than people give it credit for.

7. What’s one of your favourite projects you’ve worked on?

Honestly? All of them. It’s not really the project itself that makes me happy. It’s the team. Of course, some projects are more challenging than others, but every project has something interesting and unique about it. For me, a great team makes all the difference. When everyone communicates well and is moving in the same direction, the work just flows.

8. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

"Don't do tomorrow what you can do today." It's something I genuinely live by.

9. What word or phrase do you overuse at work?

“This is not working as expected...”, "Let me check" or “Can you confirm…?” :)

10. What’s one small change that would massively improve your working life?

More time for exploratory testing! Scripted tests are great, but some of the best bugs I’ve found came from going off-script and just… poking around!
