1. Tell us a bit about yourself

I work in marketing for two companies, three rocks and Leap Architects, I enjoy the variety this brings to my week and being part of 2 teams – and 2 Christmas parties! I’m a big people person so outside of work I'll usually be spending time with friends, family & my dog, or going to church events. I also love to host so I'll often be making dinner or baking.

2. What does a typical day look like for you?

I usually start my days going through my emails, and staying informed on industry news. Then I get started on my list of to do’s for the week, this consists of a range of things depending on what’s coming up, but often it's preparing for events we’re exhibiting at, planning and creating content, scheduling social posts and updating our website.

3. What inspired you to work in marketing?

My business teacher in school always said the most fun team to be part of in a company is the marketing team, so I studied it. I do love the variety of work and the projects you get to be a part of.

4. What’s one lesson from studying that has stayed with you?

My degree looked at consumer behaviour and marketing, so I think the teaching on why consumers behave the way they do was really interesting, looking at how social norms, perceived behaviour and intention affect the behavioural outcome.

5. What’s a current trend in the hospitality industry that you love?

I like that more cafes are implementing the ‘pay if forward’ scheme.

6. If you could swap jobs with anyone on the team for a day, who would it be?

One of the data services team, I think creating a product that organises and processes data, making it useable would be very satisfying when it all comes together! And also to be that skilled in knowing how to do that!

7. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

Either "don’t play fair" – if someone isn’t treating you well go the opposite way and treat them really well - not paying fair to their actions. Or "all you need is 20 seconds of courage" with that 20 seconds you can push yourself and do the things you didn’t think you could.

8. What job in your career taught you the most?

I have worked at Leap Architects since I was in school, it is my parents business so that has taught me a lot about what it takes to run a business so gives you a different perspective when you’re an employee as you’ve seen it from the other side. It taught me the importance of having a positive attitude and good work ethic.

9. What’s your favourite project you’ve worked on?

I think the company merger and rebrand was my favourite, it was an exciting time for the business, and I enjoyed working on the new brand look, feel and messaging. The merger opened up a lot of opportunities for the products we build so that also has been fun creating content around the products to sell them.

10. What word or phrase do you overuse at work?

“Yeah that's fine”
